Alion's Modeling and Simulation (M&S) Demonstration Laboratory supports multiple projects for both presentation and development purposes. Technologies on display include:

Damage Control Trainer (DCT) – Developed to address training challenges at the Navy's Recruit Training Command at Great Lakes, Illinois. Developed under the auspices of the Office of Naval Research, DCT is a "serious game" using open source video gaming technology to prepare Navy Recruits for shipboard emergencies.

Mission Rehearsal Tactical Team Trainer (MRT3) – Developed in partnership with NAVAIR, the MRT3 provides a deployable, high fidelity team trainer for the H-60 F/S communities to augment training in high fidelity simulators and to sustain Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) team skills while deployed.

Virtual Maintenance Performance Aid (VMPA) – Another serious game-based trainer, VMPA was developed in partnership with the Office of Naval Research and NAVAIR to provide a high fidelity virtual environment to train Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) Readiness Control Officers (RCO).

Deployable Virtual Training Environment (DVTE) – developed for PMTRASYS, DVTE is a U.S. Marine Corps Program of Record that provides a deployable training aid for small units and teams to practice Close Air Support, Naval Surface Fires Support, artillery support and other critical collaborative missions. It has the capability to combine real-world Command and Control systems with the synthetic world to provide high quality, relevant training.


Navy Center for Advanced Modeling and Simulation (NCAMS)

A distributed M&S R&D facility, the Navy Center for Advanced Modeling and Simulation (NCAMS) is a 10,000 square foot facility that supports Navy experimentation along with other key capabilities that contribute significantly to the development of warfighting capabilities. 

Alion provides integration, engineering and assistance in the operation of the lab which supports Fleet Synthetic Training and provides capabilities to execute large scale synthetic exercises, made possible through the Navy Continuous Training Environment (NCTE) architecture.


Navy Continuous Training Environment (NCTE) Research and Development (R&D) Lab
Norfolk,  VA
A highly advanced, distributed R&D lab for training and experimentation, including software development, virtualization/cloud development environment, network prototyping, integration test bed, visualization systems development.

The Navy Continuous Training Environment (NCTE) is a global network integrating hundreds of systems and thousands of nodes for real-time, 24/7 training and experimentation. Alion engineers ensure continuous operations of this critical system that demands the highest levels of security and reliability.
