Alion Awarded $1.4M Army Contract to Help Enhance Prosthetic Limb Technology for Military Amputees

Since 2003, 1,145 soldiers serving in Iraq and Afghanistan have had a limb amputated. In response, Alion Science and Technology, an employee-owned technology solutions company, is leading a modeling and simulation research effort that could help enhance the field of prosthetic limbs. Alion was awarded an 18-month, $1.4 million contract from the U.S. Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity to explore affordable and improved approaches in bringing robotic control technology to the field of prosthetic limbs. More»

Maj. Gen. Stephen Miller (USAF, Ret.) Joins Alion

Alion Science and Technology, an employee-owned technology solutions company, is pleased to announce the hiring of Maj. Gen. Stephen Miller (USAF, Ret.) as vice president and manager of the company’s Management and Decision Support Operation. Alion Awarded $6.3M NAVSEA Contract to Provide Shock and Environmental Test Support for Navy Ships and Subs

U.S. Navy ships and submarines are often subject to extreme environmental conditions and stresses, so effective testing of equipment is essential to the operation of those vessels. To support this need, Alion Science and Technology, an employee-owned technology solutions company, was awarded a three-year, $6.3 million contract from the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) to identify potential improvements to shock and environmental test procedures for all Navy surface ship and submarine field organizations. More»

Alion to Analyze Technical and Economic Feasibility of Promising Biofuel Energy Crop

Alion Science and Technology has been awarded a contract from the Biotechnology Research and Development Center (BRDC) to develop models that will assess options for processing pennycress seeds into biofuels. Pennycress is a potentially attractive biofuel source crop that produces twice the oil per acre as soybeans but can be grown by U.S. farmers in the winter and harvested in the spring between segments of a typical corn/soybean rotation. It takes full advantage of existing farm infrastructure without displacing any food crops. More»
