Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction
Desiring a more comprehensive analysis and training solution to better minimize and prevent weapons of mass destruction (WMD), the Defense Threat Reduction Agency’s (DTRA) Information Sciences and Applications Department turned to Alion.
Working with DTRA, Alion engineers created the Force-on-Force Evaluation and Analysis of Key Performance Parameters (FREAK) environment. Alion developed the complex algorithms for modeling the most challenging WMD situations and integrated third-party technologies, including military simulation standards. The result is a robust environment to simulate Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and high-yield Explosives (CBRNE) scenarios.
FREAK has become a premier force-on-force, live-virtual-constructive simulation tool for counter WMD research and development. The solution gives DTRA the means to rapidly model and evaluate operational plans while also providing actionable data to help determine where to focus investment resources.
